Krabi, Thailand

In the jungle here at Tonsai, completely clmbed out after a week of cragging. And as the mozzies are out in force, that's all I can write for nows.... Ouch, scratch, run!

Thailand
Cities in SE Asia are invariably noisy and traffic ridden, some more than others - Bangkok, for instance, is much worse than Chiang Mai, although it's easier to find a quiet spot in the latter city. Ergo, dear reader, on any given trip, Chiang Mai will seem much nicer if you have already been to Bangkok.
Without the priming effect of Bangkok, Chiang Mai seemed pretty bad this time - as I've heard other travellers say in the past, rather churlishly I'd thought. Anyway, not a bad place to spend a couple of days getting over the jetlag, but getting out of the city ASAP seemed like a good plan.

So here I am in the wonderully named Pai, a small hill town to the nort of Chiang Mai, clearly named after the pastry-based confection so dear to our nation's heart. Turns out to be a bit crusty in parts, but it has a fresh filling every few days and is delicious hot or cold (and at night it is pretty cold).

Jungle trek on the cards for tomorrow...
